Team Tournament Set-up

Players will be place in one of four player pools, based on player handicap (i.e. A,B,C,D). Each of the four player pools will have an equal number of players, based on number of participants attending the event.

A player from each of the player pools will be selected to assemble a foursome. This process will be repeated to assemble all foursomes for each day of play (Friday and Saturday). This will likely have you playing on a different tournament team each day. This process is for making up the tournament teams, ONLY. Since each player will be keeping his/her own score (stroke play), individuals may assemble their own foursomes for actual play. The tournament teams will be constructed prior to the Golf Getaway event, by Mike McGraw and Mark Harris, attempting an equitable distribution of players, based on handicaps and previous Getaway play.

The format for the team tournaments will be a 3-ball, low team gross. Each team will take the 3 lowest scores of the 4 individual team members, for each hole, and develop an 18-hole team score (Example: The scores on a given hole for a team is 4,6,5,8. The team score for the hole is 15, the sum of the 3 lowest scores. The team score for each of the 18 holes is accumulated to determine the total team score). There will be a team tournament on both Friday and Saturday, with each day having a different team make-up. The prize money for both tournaments will be distributed at Saturday's Group Dinner.

SCATS

Scats is similar to Skins, paying to the winner (Outright, no ties) of any of the 36 holes played on Friday and Saturday.

There will be Scats pools for each of the designated four player pools (A, B, C, D).

Scats will be played over two days, Friday and Saturday.

A Scat will be awarded to each player, for each Scat Pool, with the best score on any of the 36 holes, without a tie.

ONE TIE ALL TIE

The value of each Scat will be determined by the total won. The pot for each Scat pool will be determined by the number of weekend participants. The winners will be paid at the Saturday Group Dinner. (Example: If total Scat pool money is $300, over 36 holes, only 10 Scats are won. Each Scat is worth $30.)

Closest to the Pin Shoot-Out

Closest to the Pin Shoot-out will be a shoot-out in each player pool. 4 players from each player pool will qualify from each of the par 3s played on Friday and Saturday. Players qualify by winning closest to the pin on one of the par 3s played on Friday and Saturday. A player can qualify more than once. These sixteen players will compete prior to the Saturday Group Dinner. As and Bs will shoot from 125 yards, while the Cs and Ds will take their shot from 100 yards. The closest to the pin from this shoot-out will win prize money.

Individual Handicapped Tournament (Sunday Only)

Sunday's foursomes will be assembled by handicap, which is based on the players score from Friday and Saturday.

The A,B,C,D player pools do not apply on Sunday.

Each player will be given a handicap, established based on their Friday and Saturday scores. The formula (USGA Handicap Indexing) used to calculate this handicap will take into consideration opportunities for "Sandbagging". A handicap is a player's potential, not average score. With this in mind, a player's tournament handicap will be derived from his / her best score from Friday and Saturday play. This handicap value will be subtracted from the player's Sunday gross 18 hole score to determine his/her "Net Tournament Score".

There will be three flights, and the top positions (lowest Net Scores) in each flight will win cash prizes.

This year, we will be playing Sunday’s Individual Handicapped tournament at World Tour. We will be utilizing all three 9s. Each flight will be assigned a tee most appropriate for their level of play. This will also contribute to an early wrap-up to the weekend. With tee times starting at ~7:15 AM, we should be able to conclude everything by 2:00 or 2:30 PM, but for flight planning purposes, plan on the event concluding by 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.
